See more about what the retreat offers, below.

HATHA YOGA
Hatha yoga is practiced each morning to learn the basic asanas (yoga postures) in tune with mindful breathing, stretching, and gentle movement.

MAUNA
Mauna involves respectful silence that retreat participants observe throughout each morning, during meals, and after evening meditation to help maintain mindfulness.
MEDITATION
Meditation is taught and practiced daily to give participants experience in a variety of techniques involving sound healing, verbal and breath guidance and mental focus.
PRANAYAMA
Pranayama involves breathing exercises to invigorate the body and to balance one’s flow of prana (life-force energy).

LECTURES & GROUP DISCUSSIONS
These talks take place each afternoon and address the roots of Yoga philosophy, the many techniques and how to apply them within our lives.
FREE-FORM DANCE
This is offered for individuals wishing to further release feelings of joy and other emotions through spontaneous movement in rhythm to traditional drum beats from India and Africa.
SOUND HEALING
Sound healing is incorporated into morning and evening meditations sessions, with a variety of instruments used to create a meditative soundscape.
POOJA & KIRTAN
Daily pooja (ritual) at the original ashram to honour Shiva. Blessings are given with aarti followed by a session of Kirtan with mantras, instruments and positive energy.
ASHTANGA YOGA
This involves continuous movement in sync with one's breath and can be taught in many ways. We use the "Eight Limbs" tradition which is a gentle approach that is suitable for all participants - regardless of age and condition.
JALA NETI
Jala Neti is yogic cleansing of the nasal and sinus passages. Warm salt water is gently applied to wash out pollutants and maintain good health.

KARMA YOGA
Karma yoga is based in the belief that spiritual merit arrises from selfless service - such as clearing plastic from Ganga beaches and other service projects in and around Phool Chatti Ashram.
GUIDED NATURE WALKS
Nature walks to a new site each day allows body awareness practice as well as to become more attuned to the natural and sacred surroundings of Phool Chatti Ashram.
LAUGHTER YOGA
Laughter meditation is a short session in which participants are free to join in using the act of laughing to promote stress relief and good health.

MANTRA CHANTING
SACRED CEREMONIES
Mantra chanting involves sacred combinations of words or sounds repeated to activate energies in the body and the mind.
Ganga rituals and fire ceremonies are a way to honour the divine, clear energies and gives us the opportunity to connect with ourselves more deeply.

All are welcome
The rituals and devotions at Phool Chatti Ashram are rooted in ancient Hindu tradition. However we welcome and respect the beliefs of all guests who come to our door — with the hope that our 7-Day Yoga and Meditation Retreat will enrich your current lifestyle, well-being, and spiritual practices.
